Are You The One Premiere Party

Mtv's "Are You The One"

I had the great pleasure of attending the viewing party for "Are You The One" The brand new dating show airing on Mtv.  Staring Atlanta's own Simone Kelly, a radio personality. Now Ms Kelly is not your average radio personality, she is beautiful, educated and has a ton of personality. The party was great lots of cool people came out to support one of our own. The show airs every Tuesday at 11pm on Mtv so be sure to check it out.

Are You The One goes like this, 10 beautiful ladies from all over the US are chosen. From their idea of what their perfect match is 10 men are chosen, one for each lady's specific requirements. The twist, well they are not told which guy is their perfect match, if they can figure it out, the couple wins a prize of 1 million dollars. All 20 are living in a beautiful house in Hawaii, all they have to do is find their match and win. Sounds easy right, nope not really, as tension and umm other things rise, so will the difficulty of figuring out who is that perfect match.

Are You The One premieres January 21, 2014 on Mtv.

New Movie Fridays! 1-10-14

January 9, 2014

Hello fellow movie lovers, If you are like me, you look forward to Fridays, because every Friday new movies come to theaters near you. This post will take a look at a few notable ones I'm thinking about seeing. Usually when its a major release like a Man of Steel, or A Dark Knight. I will be one of those people in line at 11:30pm on a Thursday. Sorry to say, well at least not for me anyway, there is nothing of that magnitude to go see this week, but still there are a couple worth seeing.

First up, "The Legend of Hercules" This is the origin story of the son of Zeus, before he became a legend.  Now despite all the bad reviews, and these horrible trailers. I think this might be worth seeing because this is a reboot of the Hercules films. As of late I have become a huge fan of reboots, Batman, spider man, and superman reboots have been awesome. Not to say that this film will be on that level but, worth seeing none the less.

Our next film is "Lone Survivor" starring Mark Wahlberg. This is the story of a Navy Seal Team who are ordered to bring down a Taliban leader, based on the true story of "Operation Red Wings" in 2005. Things get crazy and these seals can only count on each other to survive when they are ambushed by Afghan forces.  There are guns and explosions, and Marky Mark probably takes off his shirt a few times, so both sexes will be pleased.

The Tony award and Pulitzer Prize winning Broadway play "August: Osage County" comes to the big screen with a touch of Hollywood. Starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, the dark comedy is about a dysfunctional family that is forced back to their Oklahoma home due to a family crisis. Secrets are revealed as tensions grow, and for the record anything with Meryl Streep in it is worth seeing.

There are plenty of great films in theaters right now, but these are my top three to be released this weekend. Check them out, I will and I might even post an update on all three. If you get a chance to see any of these films, please post a comment and let us know how you liked it, or if you hated it, either way, we look forward to your comments. Till next weekend, happy movie going! Trailers to all three films are at the bottom.

New Album from Common.

January 7, 2014

Common tackles Chicago violence with new album "Nobody’s Smiling"

Chicago rapper Common recently announced that he will release a new album, and the title will be...Nobody’s Smiling. Which makes perfect sense, his native City of Chicago has had an alarming rise in murders in the last few years. The veteran MC, will take on this under covered and discussed issue through his art. I applaud him for this, in a hip hop world that is consumed by glorifying sex, drugs, and violence. He chooses to give the youth what I believe they truly need, some guidance.  Listening to the radio today, you hardly if ever hear anyone discussing this topic, its not on the news, its not a top concern for our leaders. Why, well that's another issue within itself. In the mean time, I am happy to see that someone with a voice is willing to speak out and make this a bigger topic of conversation than it currently is.

In a recent Interview with Revolt, the Chicago rapper said he worked with No I.D, they have collaborated on three previous albums. 1992’s Can I Borrow A Dollar, 1994’s Resurrection, and 1997’s One Day It Will All Make Sense. No date as of yet for the release, but I'm looking forward to it, check out the vid below first single off the album called War.

Sequels To Look Out For In 2014 Update!

January 4, 2014

With the new year comes new films, 2014 has a few big sequels to look forward to seeing.

21 Jump Street

22 Jump Street

After the reboot of the TV show staring Johnny Depp did so well they had to do another one, and I am happy they did. The first one was a surprise hit with all ages groups and was a lot funnier than I thought it would be. Lets hope the second one will be as good. As long as they give Ice Cube more hilarious lines, it will be. In the first film as you know they pretended to be high school students, well only way to follow that is with the duo going to college of course. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill return as the not so dynamic duo June 5, 2014

Dumb and Dumber

Dumb and Dumber To

Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey are back, as the dumb and dumber twosome for another sure hit with core fans. After the horrible prequel Dumb and Dumberer, glad to see the original dumb and dumber cast is back. Harry (Daniels) and Lloyd (Carrey) track down one of their children in order to get them to agree to a life-saving kidney transplant. November 14

300: Rise of an Empire

I don't think I need to even explain why, this is the ultimate man flick, violence, blood, and the cinematography is amazing, the original spawned several imitations, see Spartacus, The Immortals, and none of them came close. In this squeal expect more blood, more gore, more violence, and something I'm sure the ladies will love, more ripped abs. March 5

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

This out of all the previous mentioned films, this has to be my personal favorite. The last one was in my opinion, the best of all the planet of the apes series ever made. The one with Marky Mark, (he hates it when people call him that) was ok. The old ones sucked ass if you ask me, but the last one Rise of The Planet of the Apes, despite is long title, was excellent and this one looks to be just as good, if not better. Added bonus, no James Franco, thank God, the more I see him act, the more I realize he can't. Look for this one on May 21

Update!!! check out the trailers for these films below!

Paul Walker's Character To Be Retired!

January 4, 2014

Paul Walker's Character to be retired

Brian O'Connor, played by Paul Walker will reportedly be retired from the franchise, the writers decided to go this route instead of having him killed off in the next sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Writer Chris Morgan is working on rewriting the script to around the footage that Walker shot before his untimely death.

Producers and studio execs want to give the character a respectable exit, while satisfying loyal fans wishes to see the character live on.

Universal Pictures confirmed in December that Fast & Furious 7's release date will be moved to April 10, 2015 to accommodate script changes.

I am very happy to hear that this is the direction they decided to go, anything else would have been too sad and fans and personal friends have hurt enough in real life. No need to make them relive it all over again on the big screen.
